Attendance

If your child is ill it is important that you telephone the school office 01865 351416before 9.30 am to inform us of the absence.

In all other cases, advance notice of absence is required.  Application forms for Leave of Absence (ie medical appointment or other family circumstance) are available from the school office.

The Department of Education regulations with regard to attendance state that Headteachers in all schools are no longer allowed to authorise leave of absence for any family holidays. Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances (DFE Guidance June 2013).

The Local Authority is currently reviewing their penalty notice arrangements.

It cannot be emphasised enough how disruptive and detrimental even a day’s absence is to a child’s education.
